The famed Golden Arches, with over 1 billion served world-wide, is warning the dictatorship in DC, that they are going to dump health care insurance for all of their employees if Obamacare goes forward unamended.

McDonald's Corp. has notified federal regulators its health insurance plan for nearly 30,000 hourly restaurant workers isn't compatible with a new requirement of the U.S. health overhaul, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, raising speculation about the fate of those employees' health coverage.

Trade groups representing restaurants and retailers say low-wage employers might halt their coverage if the government doesn't loosen a requirement for "mini-med" plans, which offer limited benefits to some 1.4 million Americans. The requirement concerns the percentage of premiums that must be spent on benefits.

While many restaurants don't offer health coverage, McDonald's provides mini-med plans for workers at 10,500 U.S. locations, most of them franchised. A single worker can pay $14 a week for a plan that caps annual benefits at $2,000, or about $32 a week to get coverage up to $10,000 a year.

All going according to plan Mr. President. Obamacare was designed (by the fascist pigs in the Democrat Party) to force employers to drop their private health care insurance and leave employees NO choice but to run into the arms of the federal government...the Democrat Party. Here is what I would do if I were elected president in 2012.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY and then "write me down" as a WRITE IN CANDIDATE when you vote for president in the 2012 election.

What I Would Do...

1) TRUE TAX REFORM
The revocation of all taxes. ALL. And institute a simple FLAT TAX of 10% for all individuals and businesses. No tax breaks. No loopholes. No tax credits. No capital gains. No dividend taxes. NO stinking gasoline taxes!! Nothing but a simple, easy to use and understand flat tax rate for everybody. No special favors or exemptions. The poorest of the poor and the richest of the rich will all pay the same rate.

2) DRASTIC REDUCTION IN THE SIZE OF THE FEDERAL GOVT
The single biggest threat to our country is not from the Islamic jackoffs, but from our own federal government. The reason why this country is so messed up is because of our federal government and the criminals running it. It's time to cut the government down to size, NOT the people or our business community. I propose a 50% reduction in the size of the federal government. That means closing down offices and cutting departments entirely (like the EPA). However, the military will not suffer (in fact, the military and military spending will drastically INCREASE)

As a sidebar to this, I am going after the unions. I will actively pursue to either break up all unions, arrest their leadership (they're all crooks and communists), or outlaw unions all together. I am going to free our business community of this parasite that is forcing employers to move their operations overseas.

3) REVOCATION OF 90% OF ALL GOVT REGULATIONS
I propose to eliminate 90% of all worthless and punitive government regulations. We are going to FREE the people and FREE our businesses. Make all the money you want folks! No stupid light bulb regulations or regulations on transfatty acids!! No friggin' EPA regulations either. You may build WHATEVER you want, WHEREVER you want. NO regulations! I'll leave it up to the states to decide how best to regulate their property.

4) THE MILITARY & NASA
I propose to quadruple military spending and increase the size of our standing armies ten-fold. We will build as many tanks, bombers, fighters, battleships, aircraft carriers, and nuclear missiles as it takes to get us BACK into the forefront of Military Supremacy. Also, as a bonus to our men and women who serve proudly, a life-long health care benefit absolutely free. And that includes their families. (you must serve at least 10 years to qualify however) All the bases that have been shut down over the past two decades will be reopened and readied for business. The US Military will be dominant again--THAT you can bet your @ss on.

The second tier of military reform is regarding the VA (Veteran's Administration). My goal is to strengthen the VA and expanded VA hospitals all across the country. The #1 priority is to provide the BEST "red carpet" health care for our veterans. ALL free of charge. Veterans will NOT pay a single penny for their earned health care benefits. This country OWES its veterans, and by God I will make that happen. As a veteran myself, I salute ALL distinguished American servicemen and women who serve and have served our country proudly.

I also propose to restore NASA to its rightful place at the top of Space exploration and superiority. I will NOT allow China or the Russians to beat us anywhere in space. NASA will be fully funded. I also propose the challenge of a manned mission to Mars.

5) IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY
This is a hot-button issue for everybody involved. I believe the answer is quite simple: CLOSE DOWN THE BORDER ENTIRELY. Nobody gets in or out without our Border Security Force knowing who you are and where you're going. The border will be locked down people.

Illegal Immigrants? Not going to have them. If any immigrant desires to work in the United States, they may do so. They will need to be registered with Border Security and issued an ID. They will be legal to work anywhere in the US. They however will not receive any benefits afforded to naturalized US citizens and they will also pay taxes on their wages earned. (10%) No, they will not be allowed to vote (Welcome to America).

All crossings will occur at the designated border crossings. There is NO need for any illegal to attempt crossing our southern deserts or hire "coyotes" to ferry them across undetected. By allowing them to register for work, none of that will be necessary. I believe in dignity; there is nothing wrong with people seeking work. (that's the backbone of our Republic for God's sake)

6) DRUG USE, DEALING, & TRAFFICKING WILL BE CAPITAL OFFENSES PUNISHABLE BY DEATH
Sorry, the party's over for you drug users/pushers/dealers/lords. If you're caught, you will be tried and if convicted, you will be promptly put to death. THAT is the answer to our nation's addiction to drugs. Zero Tolerance policy for illegal drugs--not legal prescription drugs of course, you can abuse those all you want. I'm talking about pot, heroin, cocaine, etc.

Drug dealers and those trafficking drugs will face the same penalty--Death. I will also authorize an all-out war on the drug lords (just like we did in the movie Clear and Present Danger). Drug lords will be targeted in their own homes and in whatever country they seek to hide. I'm making it my personal vendetta to wipe out the drug trade.

7) GOD
Our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, WILL MAKE A RETURN TO THE PUBLIC SQUARE. The word of "God," will NOT be expunged from our nation or its history. God will make a return and he will be welcomed in ALL classrooms. Our Pledge of Alliegance shall lead each and every school day. Christmas songs and parties/celebrations will be brought back into our public schools. Christmas is NOT a dirty word.
IF ANYONE IS OFFENDED, THEY CAN ESTABLISH THEIR OWN SCHOOL OR FIND A NEW COUNTRY.

This is a Christian nation and it will NOT be swayed in any other direction. God is not an evil word. For all you God haters and liberals who hate conservatives and Christianity, feel free to kindly leave the country at any time.

Drug Cost for Seniors' Medicare Benefits Skyrocket Thanks to Obamacare

In the "see, we told you so" column today we have a report that says health care costs for Medicare's drug prescription programs are going to drastically increase thanks to Doctor Obama. Seniors are also facing the prospect of LOSING their prescription plans altogether and being switched into other plans.

Gee? Didn't Obama promise the American people that "if you like your plan, you can keep it?" Seems I recall that being the MAJOR selling point of Obamacare. He wasn't going to force anyone to take some pill they didn't want. Well, here it is old folks. Swallow it.

WASHINGTON – Millions of seniors face double-digit hikes in their Medicare prescription premiums next year unless they shop for cheaper coverage, a new analysis of government data finds.

Premiums will go up an average of 10 percent among the top 10 drug plans that have signed up about 70 percent of seniors, according to an analysis of Medicare data by Avalere Health, a private research firm.

Marketing for next year's drug plans gets under way Oct. 1, and seniors will see some of the biggest changes since the Medicare prescription benefit became available in 2006. More than 17 million are enrolled in private drug plans offered through Medicare.

"People are just going to have to get on top of this and shop around," said Dan Mendelson, president of Avalere, which does research for industry and government. "Beneficiaries are really going to have to reassess their plans for next year."

But changes decreed by Medicare to force insurers to winnow down duplicative plans could cause some head-scratching and confusion.

More than 3 million seniors will see their plans discontinued, according to Avalere. Medicare says all but 300,000 will be seamlessly switched to another plan offered by the same insurer, but the Avalere data suggest it may not be that simple.

Medicare "is really reshaping the market," said Mendelson. "There are a lot of plans that are shutting down."

Among them is the second-largest, the AARP MedicareRx Saver plan, with more than 1.5 million members nationally. It's being discontinued in 2011, according to Medicare data analyzed by Avalere.

Seniors in the AARP Saver plan are expected to be switched to AARP MedicareRx Preferred, the leading national plan with nearly 2.8 million members. Both are offered by UnitedHealthcare.

But the switch will raise premiums by close to 15 percent on average for seniors in the Saver plan. They now pay an average of less than $31 a month, and would be paying nearly $35 if they decide to stay in the Preferred plan next year.

And there's another wrinkle: Seniors who are already in the AARP Preferred plan this year and decide to stay will see their premiums fall 11 percent on average. Instead of an average of $39 a month, they'll be paying under $35.

A spokesman for UnitedHealthcare declined to comment on the analysis.

The study found the biggest percentage increase in premiums — nearly 43 percent — will be for the First Health Part D Premier Plus plan, offered by Coventry Health Care. Average monthly premiums will rise from under $64 to nearly $91.

The vast majority of 9/11 observances in this country cannot be seen as politically neutral events. Implicit in their nature are the notions that lives lost at the World Trade Center are more valuable than lives lost in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and elsewhere; that the motives of the 9/11 attackers had nothing to do with genuine grievances in the Islamic world regarding American imperialism; and that the U.S. has been justified in the subsequent killing of hundreds of thousands in so-called retaliation.

The observance at Saturday’s football game was no different. A moment of silence was followed by a military airplane flyover; in between, Block-I students chanted “USA, USA.” This was neither patriotism nor remembrance in any justifiable sense, but politicization, militarism, propaganda and bellicosity. The University is a public institution that encompasses the political views of all, not just the most (falsely) “patriotic.” Athletic planners should cease such exploitation for political purposes. They might at least consider how most Muslim students, American or otherwise, would respond to this nativist display; or better, Muslims and others that live their lives under the threat of our planes, drones and soldiers.

The overwhelmingly white, privileged, Block-I students should be ashamed of their obnoxious, fake-macho, chicken-hawk chant, while poverty-drafted members of their cohort fight and die in illegal and immoral wars for the control of oil. University administrators need to eliminate from all events such “patriotic” observances, which in this country cannot be separated from implicit justifications for state-sponsored killing.

Texas Sues EPA over newly imposed "Global Warming" regulations

It's about friggin' time! The state of Texas has stepped up to the plate and said enough is enough and has sued the EPA over their onerous regulations designed to destroy America's prosperity.

The state of Texas today sued the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in a federal appeals court in Washington DC, claiming four new regulations imposed by the EPA are based on the 'thoroughly discredited' findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and are 'factually flawed,' 1200 WOAI news reports.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott says the rules are illegal and if imposed, will cost Texans in higher energy costs and tens of thousands of lost jobs.

"The state explained that the IPCC, and therefore the EPA, relied on flawed science to conclude that greenhouse emissions endanger public health and welfare," Abbott said. "Because the Administration predicated its Endangerment Finding on the IPCC's questionable facts, the state is seeking to prevent the EPA's new rules, and the economic harm that will result from these regulations, from being imposed on Texas employers, workers, and enforcement agencies."

GOP Boehner ready to compromise on tax cuts with Obama

The Republican Party be damned! IF John Boehner thinks he can give up on tax cuts (and any chance of an economic recovery any time soon) and compromise with these traitors on the Left, he must have a death wish. Because that's what he's going to get. Boehner is suggesting that "middle class" tax cuts are enough, but tax cuts for the "rich" is just not doable. Really?

On Sunday John Boehner, Republican leader in the House of Representatives, suggested he might vote for only the tax cuts on middle-income Americans. He told CBS television that while he favoured extending all the tax cuts that dated from the era of George W. Bush, he would vote for a partial extension if necessary.

“If the only option I have is to vote for some of those tax reductions, I’ll vote for it,” he said. “If the only option I have is to vote for those at 250 and below, of course I’m going to do that”.

The tax cuts, which were passed with a time limit to keep down their cost, are due to expire at the end of the year. President Barack Obama argues that since the rich are less likely to cut spending if their tax cuts are rescinded, extending those cuts will do little to help the economy.

First, tax cuts don't "cost" anything. It's NOT the government's money. It's ours.

Secondly, can someone explain this line to me? The rich are less likely to cut spending, therefore they don't deserve tax cuts?? I wasn't aware that the rich are just spending "too much" money? I thought that's what STIMULUS was Mr. President? Do you want people spending money in the economy, or do you want the entire economy shut down?? (sure seems that way doesn't it?) Clearnly he doesn't think people spending their own money is a good thing and that the communist rulers in govt. should be spending the money.

US Border Agents Suicides Coincide with Obama's Reign of Terror?

In an interesting bit of dour news, suicides are up at the US Border Patrol. Why? Since February 2008, there have been 15 suicides at the Border Patrol. Obama's World??

Suicides including these have set off alarm bells throughout the agency responsible for policing the nation's borders. After nearly four years without a single suicide in their ranks, border agents are killing themselves in greater numbers. Records obtained by The Associated Press show that at least 15 agents have taken their own lives since February 2008 — the largest spike in suicides the agency has seen in at least 20 years.

It's unclear exactly why the men ended their lives. Few of them left notes. And the Border Patrol seems somewhat at odds with itself over the issue.

How many suicides have there been in our US military? High stress of constant deployment? Hmm, well I will admit that military suicides are not Obama's fault because Iraq and Afghanistan are not "his" wars. (plus, he doesn't care about the military anyway)

Federal officials insist the deaths have nothing to do with the agency, which has doubled in size since 2004, or the increasingly volatile U.S.-Mexico border. But administrators have quietly undertaken urgent suicide-prevention initiatives, including special training for supervisors, videos about warning signs and educational programs for 22,000 agents nationwide.

"It's a microcosm of life," said Christine Gaugler, head of human resources for Customs and Border Protection, the agency that oversees the Border Patrol. "There's no uptick. It has nothing to do with our hiring. We are just responding to the suicides that have occurred."

The Taliban spokesman (they have spokesmen??) said the missionaries were killed because they were spies for the US (naturally, yeah you never know about these doctors nowadays) and because they were preaching "Christianity."

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Ten members of a medical team, including six Americans, were shot and killed by militants as they were returning from providing eye treatment and other health care in remote villages in northern Afghanistan, a spokesman for the team said Saturday.

Dirk Frans, director of the International Assistance Mission, said one German, one Briton and two Afghans also were part of the team that made the three-week trip to Nuristan province. They drove to the province, left their vehicles and hiked for hours with pack horses over mountainous terrain to reach the Parun valley in the province's northwest.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told The Associated Press that they killed the foreigners because they were "spying for the Americans" and "preaching Christianity."

Fed Chair Bernake warns economic outlook "unusually uncertain"

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernake talked to a Congressional committee today to discuss why Obama's economic recovery ISN'T recovering. And to ease fears about the worsening economic data-which are being made even worse by Obama and his policies.

Here are some excerpts:
WASHINGTON – Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress Wednesday the economic outlook remains "unusually uncertain," and the central bank is ready to take new steps to keep the recovery alive if the economy worsens.

I love this "unusually uncertain" descriptor of why the "Summer of Recovery" isn't happening. Let me clue you in to what that uncertainty is Mr. Bernake, it's called BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA!!! It's called a fascist dictator-like jack@ss has taken over our country Mr. Bernake and We The People aren't putting up with it!! That's the uncertainty. Consumers and business are ABSENT from the economy because they are being TARGETED by a fascist dictator sir!!

Bernanke is trying to send Congress, Wall Street and Main Street a positive message that the recovery will last in the face of growing threats. At the same time, he wants to assure Americans that the Fed will take new stimulative actions if necessary.

Positive message? Economic FEAR has gripped the country sir because of the Marxist policies of the dictator in chief. The outlook for the economy is not going to change sir until that son-of-a-bitch (and his party of Communist traitors) are removed from office.

Wall Street wasn't convinced. Shortly before Bernanke spoke, the Dow Jones industrial average was up about 20 points. Within minutes, stocks began falling and the Dow was down more than 100 points.

The recovery, which had been flashing signs of strengthening earlier this year, is losing momentum. And fears are growing that it could stall.

Consumers have cut spending. Businesses, uncertain about the strength of their own sales or the economic recovery, are sitting on cash, reluctant to beef up hiring and expand operations. A stalled housing market, near double-digit unemployment and an edgy Wall Street shaken by Europe's debt crisis are other factors playing into the economic slowdown.

"In short, it look likes our economy is in need of additional help," said the committee's chairman, Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn. And, Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, the highest-ranking Republican on the panel, said the economic outlook has become a "bit more clouded."

More stimulus? Sure, it's worked so well thus far!! Yep, the wizards who are orchestrating this destruction are ready to do even more damage. Makes you feel confident doesn't it?

WASHINGTON — When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”

And that power, they say, is even more sweeping than the federal power to regulate interstate commerce.

Administration officials say the tax argument is a linchpin of their legal case in defense of the health care overhaul and its individual mandate, now being challenged in court by more than 20 states and several private organizations.

Under the legislation signed by President Obama in March, most Americans will have to maintain “minimum essential coverage” starting in 2014. Many people will be eligible for federal subsidies to help them pay premiums.

In a brief defending the law, the Justice Department says the requirement for people to carry insurance or pay the penalty is “a valid exercise” of Congress’s power to impose taxes.

Congress can use its taxing power “even for purposes that would exceed its powers under other provisions” of the Constitution, the department said. For more than a century, it added, the Supreme Court has held that Congress can tax activities that it could not reach by using its power to regulate commerce.

EXCUSE ME?! Congress has the power to tax even if it's NOT constitutional?? I think it's time we REVOKE congress's power and authority to tax WE THE PEOPLE.

While Congress was working on the health care legislation, Mr. Obama refused to accept the argument that a mandate to buy insurance, enforced by financial penalties, was equivalent to a tax.

“For us to say that you’ve got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase,” the president said last September, in a spirited exchange with George Stephanopoulos on the ABC News program “This Week.”

When Mr. Stephanopoulos said the penalty appeared to fit the dictionary definition of a tax, Mr. Obama replied, “I absolutely reject that notion.”

Small Town outside of DC pays homage to Joseph Stalin

It seems an organization called "The National D-Day Memorial Foundation" (sounds inocuous enough doesn't it?), has erected a bronze bust of their favorite war hero, "Uncle Joe" Joseph Stalin. Yeah, you heard right. Joseph Stalin being immortalized and admired by this communist organization. The director of that organization is Robin Reed. Give this jackass a call folks. Let him know hou you feel about paying homage to a Communist f@cking murderer and dictator!

The installation of a memorial bust of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin in Bedford, Va., next to Western Allied leaders in World War II has ignited a firestorm of controversy and threatened to tear apart the small town 200 miles south of the nation's capital.

Opponents of the bronze sculpture say it has no right to be placed in the National D-Day Memorial next to the busts of Presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill because Stalin's murderous rule led to the deaths of at least 20 million people, surpassing even the number of murders under Hitler's bloody reign.

The Bedford board of supervisors voted unanimously late last month to ask the National D-Day Memorial Foundation to lose the bust. A group called the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation has an electronic petition calling on the memorial overseers to remove the bust. Several newspaper editorials have criticized the bust.

But the foundation isn't backing down, saying that Stalin, love him or hate him, is a part of the war's history, and his actions should be remembered.

"We certainly can understand the concern recently expressed by the Bedford County Board of Supervisors on behalf of their constituents and their interests," Robin Reed, president of the foundation said in a written statement.

The Dept. of Justice is pushing forward with their law suits against my state of Arizona but they are not suing the numerous "Sanctuary Cities" around the country for REFUSING to cooperate with federal immigration law!!

Do you get the picture folks? Obama and Eric Holder (Communists) are suing AZ because THEY ARE upholding federal immigration law!! Yet, they refuse to sue the Sanctuary Cities who will NOT abide by federal immigration law. Do you see a clear problem with YOUR Communist president and the Democratic Party?

Here's the first part of the story...A week after suing Arizona and arguing that the state's immigration law creates a patchwork of rules, the Obama administration said it will not go after so-called sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with the federal government on immigration enforcement, on the grounds that they are not as bad as a state that "actively interferes."

"There is a big difference between a state or locality saying they are not going to use their resources to enforce a federal law, as so-called sanctuary cities have done, and a state passing its own immigration policy that actively interferes with federal law," Tracy Schmaler, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., told The Washington Times. "That's what Arizona did in this case."

But the author of the 1996 federal law that requires states and localities to cooperate with federal authorities on immigration laws thinks the administration is misreading the statute and that sanctuary cities are in violation of federal law. Drawing a distinction between those localities and Arizona, he said, is "flimsy justification" for suing the state.

"For the Justice Department to suggest that they won't take action against those who passively violate the law who fail to comply with the law is absurd," said Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee and chief author of the 1996 immigration law. "Will they ignore individuals who fail to pay taxes? Will they ignore banking laws that require disclosure of transactions over $10,000? Of course not."

I'd like to know just "what" that BIG DIFFERENCE is ma'am? Can you enlighten me on why you would assault a state in the union FOR DEFENDING federal law, while turning a blind eye to those who OPENLY refuse to uphold federal law?

So, it's a crime for a state to pass a law that simply states that law enforcement must verify a person's legal immigration status IF they have reasonable suspicion, BUT it's not a crime for a city to REFUSE to comply with any federal immigration law? In fact, these sanctuary cities are not just refusing to comply, they are ACTIVELY purusing policies that assist and aid illegal immigrants! That's willful criminal activity is it not?

Montana School Board Wants to Teach Sex Ed & Homosexuality to Kindergarteners

The Leftists in Montana (they're everywhere folks) is proposing to start teaching "sex education" to children in kindergarten. Yes, that's right. 5 year olds. What better place to start planting the seeds of "hate" and "pro-gay" than the very first induction into public school?

The Helena Public Schools Board of trustees faced a large and emotionally charged crowd at its meeting Tuesday night as it considers whether to begin its sexual education curriculum in kindergarten.

Members of the community were invited to give public comment on the proposed K-12 Health Enhancement Comprehensive Curriculum before the nine-member board votes next month.

The Montana Family Foundation is fighting the proposed changes, telling Fox News its biggest concern is teaching graphic sexual detail to kids who are not emotionally able to process or comprehend it. If the changes pass, kids as young as 5 will begin to learn medically accurate names for a number of both male and female "private parts."

According to the draft proposal, beginning in kindergarten, school nurses will teach students proper terms such as "nipple, breast, penis, scrotum and uterus." And once they are promoted to first grade, children will learn that sexual relations could happen between two men or two women. By the time students are 10 years old, instruction will include the various ways people can have intercourse, be it vaginally, orally or through "anal penetration," according to the proposal.

What's the real agenda folks? It's right there hidden between the lines: teaching (& preaching) the virtues of homosexuality.

Now remember folks, this is what THEY claim is needed in schools! Teaching kids how to have sex by age 10? Do you think promoting POT SMOKING at age 10 would encourage kids to smoke or not?? A North Carolina pastor was relieved of his duties as an honorary chaplain of the state house of representatives after he closed a prayer by invoking the name of Jesus.

“I got fired,” said Ron Baity, pastor of Berean Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. He had been invited to lead prayer for an entire week but his tenure was cut short when he refused to remove the name Jesus from his invocation.

Baity’s troubles began during the week of May 31. He said a House clerk asked to see his prayer. The invocation including prayers for our military, state lawmakers and a petition to God asking him to bless North Carolina.”

“When I handed it to the lady, I watched her eyes and they immediately went right to the bottom of the page and the word Jesus,” he told FOX News Radio. “She said ‘We would prefer that you not use the name Jesus. We have some people here that can be offended.’”

"When I became the NASA administrator -- or before I became the NASA administrator -- he charged me with three things. One was he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math, he wanted me to expand our international relationships, and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering," Bolden said in the interview.

Democrats Reject GOP compromise on Unemployment Extension

This is what happens when you elect Democrats (communists) to "govern" your country...

Congress adjourns this week for the July Fourth recess without having passed a bill to extend unemployment insurance benefits to 1.3 million people who started losing them this month.

Democrats have been painting Republicans as unsympathetic to the long-term unemployed who will be unable to collect benefits, but Democratic leaders have rejected several offers by the GOP to vote for the bill if at least some of it is paid for.

"My concern is that the Democrats are more interested in having this issue to demagogue for political gamesmanship than they are in simply passing the benefits extension," said Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, who offered a deal that was rejected by Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.

Democratic leaders were quick to attack Republicans for opposing the benefits, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., calling their opposition "just cruel" and "contrary to what our country is about."

Republicans, meanwhile, stood firm in their argument that extending benefits should not add to the deficit.

The Contract With America Pt. II - The End of Hope & Change

The New Contract With America – Part II

My ideas to take BACK this country and get us back onto the path to prosperity. In no particular order (except for the first one).

1)Iran

- Well, my first item on the list is not necessarily related to domestic affairs, but it’s just as important.
- As the great Ronald W. Reagan said, “the bombing starts in 5 minutes.” He could NOT have been more right!!!!
- The Republican president-elect 2012 during his or her inaugural address, shall deliver this ultimatum to Iran. Stating quite simply that Iran has “1 hour” to destroy their nuclear facilities and all materials. And the United States will be in route to help.

2)Military Spending

-We need to re-kindle the arms race; we need to start building weapons again. We need nuclear missiles, missile defense shield, nuclear aircraft carriers, nuclear subs, tanks, infantry…
-We need to dramatically increase our troop strength.
-Increase military pay and benefits—if there are ANY Americans more deserving of excellent public benefits, it’s our men and women who proudly serve our Armed Forces.

3)Knee-capping the federal government
-This one is probably the most important “reform” needed in our country—tearing down the tyranny of the federal government’s regulations and outrageous laws.
-The federal government likes to implement law after law after law all designed to “protect” American consumers; however, the truth is just the opposite—it is to control the people and "evil" business. It is to squeeze capitalism from our shores and empower the federal government to rule with an iron-communistic fist over the peasants (that's us).
-My proposal is to eliminate/revoke 90% of all federal laws & regulations. That’s the goal.
*Sidebar: Why 90%?? Because 90 is a good round figure isn't Chuck U Schumer? Chuck U Schumer seems to think it's okay to confiscate 90% of CEO's bonuses, so it's only fair to eliminate 90% of his power.

4)Taxes – Starve the government, not the people!!!

-The second most important “reform” is real tax reform.
-First, we need to eliminate the thousands and thousands of pages of tax laws. Get rid of them all. Burn the book.
-Secondly, the elimination of the capital gains taxes—people who invest have a right to keep their earnings.
-Set the corporate income tax rate at 5% (no more, no less).
-Eliminate all “sin” taxes (drugs, alcohol, tobacco, etc.)
-Eliminate the “death” tax. Is there ANYTHING more offensive?
-Federal income taxes…I have a couple of competing ideas:
a) a Flat Tax – a standard, flat tax rate of 10%.
b) a Two-tier Flat Tax: 10% up to $1 million; 25% for everything over that. Or,
c) a Consumption Tax of 15% (no more, no less). Or a better idea,
d) ONLY registered Democrats and Indenpendents will pay taxes - 100%!!! This will be retro-active: so, if you voted Democrat before, you won't be able to "jump ship" and change to Republican in order to avoid taxes. NO!! You guys love taxes so now's gonna be your chance to step up to the plate and start paying YOUR fair share you liberal pieces of crap.
-Either of these tax ideas could be implemented with great success.
-Finally, make them PERMANENT—create an amendment to add tax “freedom” into the Constitution. Just revoke the 16th Amendment.

*Question: Does the 10th Amendment mean anything at all, or is it just there for Democrats to piss on?

5)Health Care

-This one I’m open to all suggestions? I’m not an expert, but I think any reforms would require getting the federal government OUT of the equation!!!
-My main point for health care reform would be that it is imperative that users PAY for their own health care, NOT insurance companies. Insurance companies are not in business to pay for your health care bills. Sorry, but health care is not FREE folks.
-User pays

6)Social Security Reform

-This one’s easy, but it’s going to be tough.
-Raise the eligibility age from 65 to 85. That would expunge millions from the federal SSI roles.
-In exchange, once a person reaches 65 they are tax exempt until death. But until then, they’ll have to work. Retirement is not “free.”
-Create Retirement Investment Accounts for all Americans – this would be the transition (bridge) to eliminating SSI altogether.

7)Tort Reform

-This is another very important reform…knee-capping lawyers.
-Real tort reform should have the goal of putting lawyers out of the business of making money and instead being public servants.
-Cap any and all law suits at $100K. Regardless of the case or circumstance, cap rewards. There are too many frivolous law suits and ambulance chasing lawyers.
-Overturn and return all monies paid to the states from the insane and criminal tobacco law suits. That was THEFT! As a sidebar: remove all restrictions on tobacco sales and advertising. I don’t care if they advertise to kids on Saturday morning cartoons. They are a business and they have a RIGHT to advertise to whomever they wish.

8)Energy Policy

-This one’s easy too: DRILL FOR OUR OWN DAMN OIL.
-Open up ALL forms of energy exploration and production. All forms!!! Sink new wells everywhere.
-Forbid ANY environmental law suits or EPA restrictions.
-Build 1000 new nuclear power plants and coal plants.
-Revoke all EPA restrictions and regulations. (the EPA should be eliminated anyway—see Contract Item #3)

9)Immigration “Reform”

-This one’s easy too…
-SEAL the DAMN borders!!!! Lock them down shut. NOBODY gets in to this country that isn’t verified and checked.

Senate Fails to Pass "Doctor Fix" Hello Obamacare

Well, well in a bit of delightful news today the Senate failed to pass the so-called "doctor fix" for medicare patients. It seems when the government runs health care it doesn't work out too well. We told you so!

WASHINGTON – After a week of partisan wrangling, the Senate on Friday passed legislation to spare doctors a 21 percent cut in Medicare payments looming for months. But the last-ditch effort came too late.

Moments after the Senate acted, Medicare announced it would begin processing claims it has already received for June at the lower rate. The reason: the House cannot act on the fix until next week.

That means doctors, nurse practitioners, physical therapists and other providers who bill under Medicare's physician fee schedule will have to resubmit their claims if they want to be made whole, with added paperwork costs both for the providers and for taxpayers.

"Congress is playing Russian roulette with seniors' health care," Dr. Cecil B. Wilson, president of the American Medical Association, said in a statement. "This is no way to run a major health coverage program."

This is no way to run a major health coverage program? Well hello!! YOU friggin' morons were begging for Obamacare and now you're complaining that the government isn't coming through?

AARP, the seniors' lobby, called the cut "unprecedented" and "dangerous" even if it's only temporary. Nancy LeaMond, the group's executive vice president, warned it would undermine confidence in the stability of the giant health care program for 46 million elderly and disabled people.

"This cut creates a dangerous atmosphere for seniors and their doctors, and will contribute to more doctors making the decision already made by some physicians to stop taking Medicare patients," she said.

8 Year Old's Patriotic hat banned in Rhode Island School

This is one of those "now I've heard it all" stories.

An 8 year old school student at a Rhode Island elementary school made a "patriotic hat" for a school project that had an American flag patch and some plastic toy "Army men" attached to the cap. Unfortunately for this young man, his use of toy soldiers carrying "guns" got him sent home. Yes. This boy's patriotic gesture to honor our military had violated the school's "zero tolerance" policy on guns. I am more surprised that this kid's patriotic hat with an "American flag" boldly on the front wasn't the source of ire? Or worse, this little kid is damn lucky it wasn't a picture of Jesus Christ!! The ACLU would now be suing the parents for child abuse.

I don't know WHAT country this is, but it damn well had better change BACK to the country that it was before these communist traitors took it over.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Christan Morales says her son just wanted to honor American troops when he made a hat decorated with an American flag and small plastic Army figures.

But the hat ran afoul of the district's no-weapons policy because the toy soldiers were carrying tiny weapons.

"His teacher called and said it wasn't appropriate because it had guns," Morales said.

Morales' 8-year-old son, David, was assigned to make a hat for the day when his second-grade class would met their pen pals from another school. She and her son came up with an idea to add patriotic decorations to a camouflage hat.

Earlier this week, the Tiogue School in Coventry sent the hat home with David after class. He wore a plain baseball cap on the day of the visit instead.

Superintendent Kenneth R. Di Pietro said the principal told the family that the hat would be fine if David replaced the Army men holding weapons with ones that didn't have any.

Radical idea to fix our illegal immigration problem with Mexico

As an AZ resident (who applauds SB1070--VIVA Gov. Jan Brewer!!) I have a simple idea to fix our illegal immigration problems with Mexico.

Every year Mexican citizens die attempting to cross the Sonoran Desert to get into the United States. Every single death is tragic and needless. It's crazy. There's NO need for anybody to die or risk their lives.

No it's not a guest worker program (although that would help if we do any reforms). My idea is much more radical. However, it's very, very simple.

ANNEX MEXICO AND MAKE IT THE "58TH" STATE!!!

That's it. It's that simple people. This would solve all our problems with Mexico. Here are the particulars to make this work:

1) It MUST be proposed and carried out by the Republican Party!! This is an absolute MUST. (for political reasons-I'll get to that) The next president is going to be a Republican, and it is very likely that the GOP will gain back control of both houses of Congress. Which means we will have the ability to push OUR freedom-loving, pro-capitalist ideas and get our country BACK to where it's supposed to be. But better, with this idea we can HELP the citizens of Mexico.

2) The big challenge is selling this to the Mexican people. It should be an easy sell right? They all seem to want to come here! Just make them all US citizens and be done with it.

3) But the purpose is to EXPORT our capitalistic economic system of freedom to the Mexican people. IF we don't, then we risk Mexico deepening their socialist or worse, communist tendencies. We cannot afford to go to war with Mexico. We need friendly neighbors, not a terrorist state next to us.

4) Of course, this gives us the ability to take control of their natural resources: like OIL!!!! We need resources to fuel our society. Oil, agriculture, and tourism.

5) And, as an added benefit we get taxpayers in return. NOT welfare recipients. We have enough of those here.

6) And wouldn't it be nice to travel to a Mexican beach resort without having to get hassled and shacken down by thugs & corrupt cops?

That's it folks. The single best way to solve our immigration problem with Mexico. Give them what they all want; and we get a beautiful country full of hard working, respectible people and a nation with great resources in return. It's NOT occupation, it's FREEDOM for these desperate people!! RUSH: Hey, Chris - thanks for making time for this, I really appreciate it. This could not be more timely.

HORNER: Well, thank you. Yes, I agree.

RUSH: Let's just go straight to the crux of the matter. Do you think that what's being called "Climategate" is genuinely a fraud, a hoax - maybe one of the biggest in science history?

HORNER: Clearly, there were falsified results, and there was an intent to deceive. On its face, the documents and the computer code annotations reveal an intent to defraud. As to what sort of scale this scientific scandal is, I'd have to say it's the biggest in terms of the overall dollar amounts involved. If you look at the whole scheme of climate-related research, the taxpayer spends more than we do on AlDS in total, and if these activities occurred there, the media would be rightly outraged. But it's also at the highest com¬pensated levels among the "A-list" of climate alarmist scientists.

RUSH: Look at all the things they've affected. They radically altered the automobile business; one could argue this led to its collapse, what with the adoption of CAFE standards and the demonization of large vehicles. History and science textbooks throughout every educational level would seemingly, in a sane world, have to be rewritten. To me, this is breathtaking and staggering. I don't pretend to be a scientist - but I don't think these people are, either. I think they're political hacks masquerading as scientists, and they've corrupted something crucially important to human advancement and civilization, which is the whole scientific endeavor. I'm not a scientist, if anything I'm a political scientist, I like to say, but I try to figure out what people's motivations are. As you look at what they do scientifically, do you ever ask, what are these people really trying co do, what's their purpose?

HORNER: I'm a scientist like President Obama is. We're both lawyers. I've represented scientists for a dozen years and members of Congress and think tanks who work on this. But, look, there is political ideology involved here, there's no doubt. The protagonists have admitted it in certain emails, saying they need this [global warming] to be true. There are other ideologies involved, from the population zealotry you see among some of the global warming alarmists - who were global cooling alarmists before that; any old excuse to get their anti-growth, anti-people, pro-state agenda in place (I'm speaking of folks like the President's chief science advisor, John Holdren) - in addition to the population nags, there are fallen communists, persistent communists, statists of every variety. They all love this issue. It's a symphony of hysteria, with many chairs. There's something for everyone in this agenda in that it affirms the worldview of people who need this kind of thing to be true, who believe every man-as-agent-of-doom theory to roll down the Autobahn, who need just to feel good by feeling terrible and being convinced that if they re-ran the numbers, the world really is going to end and this particular doomsday cult was right. But the solution, the prescription, is what it really must be about, and that satisfies all those constituencies. It's not reasonable to conclude it's about the climate, because nothing ever proposed would actually detectably impact the climate.

RUSH: Exactly. Well, follow the money, you get answers to a lot of questions. But a lot of people don't understand, Chris, the terms you casually threw out, "anti-growth," "anti-people." It's hard to relate to why anyone would be anti-people, anti-growth. I don't understand the mindset. I'm not sure it's even important to understand it, in trying to defeat these people.

HORNER: There's a lot of self-loathing, but there's a lot of loathing of others. As P.J. O'Rourke put it, these folks believe there's just enough of them, and way too many of you and me. It's about other people's wealth, it's about other people's babies, it's about making other people have wind¬mills in their backyards and so on. There really isn't a unifying motivation because this is such a disparate coalition.

Let me tell you really quickly how I got dragged into this. Twelve years ago I was innocently practicing law in Washington – pause, wait for laughter – and a company called Enron asked me to be director of federal government relations. That lasted about three weeks, because I found myself meeting with the Union of Concerned Scientists, Natural Resources Defense Council [NRDC], and so on, along with BP and numerous other companies and trade associations you’ve heard of, who were trying to figure out how to get a global warming treaty and cap-and-trade imposed on the U.S. economy. I was obviously naïve, and I sent some emails asking, “Do you have any idea what this group you’re chairing is up to?” That didn’t go over too well.

RUSH: Wait. I knew that Enron was in on the carbon trading scheme. I knew it was one of Ken Lay's creations. But are you saying the oil compa¬nies were in on this, too, that they wanted this kind of thing to pass?

HORNER: Well, BP, because they were invested in these white elephants that other peo¬ple had gotten out of decades ago, like, for example, Enron and Amoco had the world's second largest solar venture going. That's now BP's. Enron quietly bought the world's largest windmill company. Now it's called GE Wind. You may have heard from them on this issue.

RUSH: $1.4 billion, I think, they're invested into that.

HORNER: They're called "rent seekers." It's the world's second oldest profession, trying to make their fortune off governmental policy favors. They got in a "Baptist-and-bootlegger" coalition with Green groups, as Clemson University economist Dr. Bruce Yandle puts it. One famous Enron memo to Ken Lay noted, "We now have excellent credentials with ... " and it rattled off Greenpeace, World Wildlife Fund, NRDC, Climate Action Network, and so on, " ... and we need to monetize that." They figured they'd support these Green groups into scaring the public into accepting Enron's desired agenda. Sort of like the old "Far Side" cartoon with two spiders spinning a web at the bottom of a playground slide and one saying, "If we pull this off, we'll eat like kings." That was their mindset.

It wasn't so much oil companies. But the gas association was involved early. A lot of coal-fired utilities were involved. Duke Energy was, and then wasn't, and now is again - because they all have their own scheme. The good news is, it's like any old western movie: at the end, the thieves always fallout when it comes time to split up the loot. And that's what's been going on here for about ten years; the Exelons and Duke Energys and Enrons and BPs have all been pushing their own scheme, claiming "it's the greatest threat facing mankind, we must act now so long as you accept my scheme." If you don't: "Let's not be hasty."

Exelon, [Obama advisor] David Axelrod's first astro-turf client, is now leading the peacocking out of the Chamber of Commerce in faux outrage over the Chamber's opposition to cap-and-trade. But Exelon is, according to investment analyst Sanford Bernstein and now their own CEO, John Rowe, expecting a windfall of $1 billion a year for doing nothing besides being able, under this scheme, to charge more for their power.

So since financial motivation, according to Mr. Gore, dictates opinion and why one is in this, I think it's fair since ours are always questioned - to put on the table who the other players are and why they might be involved

RUSH: Let's turn to NASA, because the Competitive Enterprise Institute [CEI], where you're a Senior Fellow, is suing NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies for their three-year refusal to provide documents requested under Freedom of Information Act. What's your part in this?

HORNER: Well, NASA's Goddard Institute is our equivalent of this Climatic Research Unit in the UK, which is at the core of the Climategate scandal. There are three claims to datasets that really serve as the legs of the stool for the entire global warming enterprise: Kyoto, Kyoto2, and cap-and-trade. We now know that one them, the CRU data, cannot be replicated - and that the so-called "hockey stick" was falsified. So let's look at the other two. Well, when NASA forced to correct their historical record for U.S. temperatures in 2007, they did so very quietly - which was odd, because they issue press releases about the hottest second Tuesday in a non-leap-year February, if they can somehow tie it to a claim it's proof of global warming. They've got an enormous, as you might imagine, appropriations stake in here. So I sent a couple requests asking for their internal discussions of whether to correct the record once they had been caught, why they’d correct the record, how to correct it, should they issue a press release, what might be implications of doing so. A days later, as I like to do, I issued a FOIA asking for their internal discussions about whether and how to respond to my first FOIA, but also for their correspondence internally as to how to respond to the guy who caught them. They have not just dragged their feet; they’ve stonewalled me. They're refusing to acknowledge anything. They never acknowledged any of my courteous, fairly regular reminders that it would be a good time to come into com¬pliance with the law, given the President's now to be the most transparent Administration in history, and so on. When Climategate broke and I saw that this fellow over at Goddard named Gavin Schmidt, who also was the focus of one of my FOIAs, was implicated in these emails from CRU, I thought it would be a good time to give them a courtesy notification that since they could not seem to get their act together, we're going to ask for the assistance of a court.

RUSH: [laughs] How do you think this is going to shake out?

HORNER: Investigations will ensue. The UK's investigation appears early on to be a bit of a whitewash. But here we've got Senators David Vitter and James Inhofe sending NASA's Inspector General a letter saying, "The skies above NASA shall not be darkened with burning documents. Get your hands on these things. Don't do what was done in the UK, where there were all these admissions of and orders to destroy materials." We are going to proceed through the courts. I believe Congress is going to ask for a little bit of sunshine, and if NASA drags its feet - Congress isn't subject to receiving Freedom of Information Act exemptions. These people have no idea what to do if their demands actually succeed to get off energy sources that work, and they're pulled out from under us. So I think the truth will [win] out. What that means politically is, the President's going to double down. That's his only political instinct, so far as I can tell, and he's going to push for a treaty, or something like it, and he's going to push for cap-and-trade. This is going to backfire. What we should be doing is staying any U.S. involvement in domestic cap-and-trade, international Kyoto, or interplanetary something. I'm sure they've got that in mind, too.

RUSH: Is it safe to say that all of these disparate groups that compromise this coalition really know that this is all B.S.? This is not about man warming the planet; this is not about saving our climate, saving polar bears; this has an entirely dif¬ferent agenda.

HORNER: It isn't reasonable to conclude it's about the climate, and it isn't reasonable to conclude that they haven't figured out that nothing proposed would, under any scenario, ever detectably impact the climate. If this really were what they say, their proposed menu of solutions is fairly strange, both morally and as a policy matter. It wouldn't do anything about it. It would just give them their long-held laundry list of demands. Look at people like Mr. Gore. He is, as people used to say about the Clintons, using language not to communicate his meaning, but to hide it.

RUSH: Right.

HORNER: He's saying things indicating he did read the UK high court's opinion [critical of "An Inconvenient Truth"]. Sometimes he slips the rails, and he just made erroneous claims about the age of the CRU emails on MSNBC that indicate he doesn't care what he says. But when it comes to the rest - I'm not speaking about the scruffy kid tapping at your door for donations to save the planet the movement knows that their demands aren't going to change the climate. They're like the old labor leader who, the day their demands go into effect, says, "Now I want more." Look, when the zero-population growth [ZPG] movement collapsed, it was just recycled into becoming the environmentalist movement.

RUSH: Right.

HORNER: The head of the Sierra Club was ZPG's old political director, Carl Pope. It's not reasonable to conclude it's about the climate. It’s reasonable to conclude it's about imposing a long-held laundry list of statist and nanny-state and pro-tax and population zealot demands.

RUSH: So basically redistribution, government expansion, loss of liberty and freedom, and these people thinking that they're the elites who are going to be in control of everything, and everybody.

HORNER: I look at it this way. It's sort of their "close - Guantanamo- now" shriek, without any earthly idea of what they do next. You know, what happens when the dog catches the car. Windmills are like Uighurs: they go in other people's backyards. These people have no idea what to do if their demands that we get off energy sources that work are pulled out from under us. It's not a responsible move, which is very concerning because these folks are now in charge. But their ultimate goal is to move individual decisions from individual producers and consumers to the state, because the state knows better.

RUSH: So they really do not take into account the consequences of their success? That if they prohibit the use of oil, they really don't know what would result from that?

HORNER: We're in a war, from their perspective, and in war there are casualties. Again, it's about other people, and other people's suffering. There's a sort of a cold calculation that it will hurt people. In my first book, The Politically Incorrect Guide, I quote them allover the place. When somebody pointed out that banning DDT could kill millions of Sri Lankan babies, sentencing them to painful malarial deaths, Environmental Defense Fund [EDF] chief scientist Dr. Charles Wurster said, "So what? People are the cause of all the problems. We have too many of them. We need to get rid of some of them, and this is as good a way as any." [So what's HIS excuse for existing? Why is he exempt from forced, govt. extermination? This anti-human piece of sh@t sounds like Adolf Hitler don't you think?]

The late Cornell population guru LaMont C. Cole once reportedly said, "To feed a starving child is to exacerbate the world population problem." [There's your proof...Who are the Nazis folks?? These are Obama's political colleagues.]

RUSH: But these are the people who claim to have all the compassion, and we're supposedly the mean-spirited extremists.

HORNER: Yeah, they have "compassion," but from a curious perspective. In their hierarchy, we're all equal, but Gaia is more equal than others, and Gaia deserves the compassion. People are pollution to them, Rush. Other people.

RUSH: Exactly. They do think the earth is corrupted by the existence of humanity. You mentioned cap-and-trade; let's move to the EPA. Obama will double down in the face of clear evidence that what he's doing is fraudulent. The way they're talking at the EPA, sounds like the Administration is blackmailing Congress: "You either pass this or we're going to do it by fiat."

HORNER: Right. It's the old window insurance, "Pay me to protect you from my lunatic friend." That's what they've been doing. But it's so aggressive, it reveals a certain desperation. They are desperate for someone else to take own¬ership of this issue.

The EPA's delaying this decision and not just advancing this co2 "endangerment finding" on George W Bush's watch infuriated the left, because they knew this year they would be in the position of merely "cleaning up Bush's mess." So now they have to take ownership of it. People like Jay Rockefeller and Evan Bayh and others who hold the key to whether cap-and-trade comes to the Senate Floor have been saying things like, "It's beginning to look like a good issue for 2011." Because the biggest tax increase in American history is not really a good even-numbered-year issue.

So knowing that investigations will ensue, we have petitioned EPA co reopen their record, given Climategate, and we're going to ask for a court's assistance there, too. They realize the old line, "We must act now!" has some meaning for once, because the facts are going to catch up with them. So I don't think EPA wants to do this.

RUSH: Really?

HORNER: No, no. I think it's a fairly desperate move. They're tapping the cage co Congress and saying, "You know, it would be a shame if this thing got out of the cage, so you better do this." But it's a strange argument: "Boy, the voters are going to be really upset with you if I, the EPA, raise their energy prices." This is going to prove to be a grenade just like the BTU tax [under Clinton], but possibly bigger.

RUSH: Now, this is fascinating, because what I hear you saying is the EPA - which is Obama; EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson is Obama - they know this is garbage. They know this is harmful. They know it's damaging. They want it to happen, though. They believe in it. Yet they don't want [their] fingerprints on it. They want to be able to lay this off on Congress.

HORNER: I think this could help define a political generation. This is so big, so damaging. If you try to regulate greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act as written, you will necessarily trigger a cascade of regulation out of Washington of everything down to and even smaller than construction permitting. And people won't forget that.

As to the legislation, they claim that it is a market mechanism, but no, it is not; it politically allocates its ration coupons and so on. The bill rewards constituencies. And there are also provisions tucked in the legislation that are just breathtaking, and they're really hoping to ram them through. The House bill and the Senate bill vary 500 pages in size, yet one section managed to be drafted identically in both bills. In the Senate bill it is Section 707, and it says every single law in the United States Code, now or in the future, all laws adopted shall be implemented as carbon dioxide suppression laws. That means Department of Interior and Agriculture per¬mitting, the tax code, it means everything. Section 707 puts the lie to this claim of business-benefiting regulatory "certainty" from Congress as opposed to from EPA - you know, "I'd hate to have my lunatic friend get out and go after you, and if you negotiate with me, you can have certainty." Absolutely no certainty here.

RUSH: Now, the Supreme Court made all this possible, right? You're going to go in to court and try to stop this, but the Supreme Court, in their infinite scientific wisdom, went ahead and gave me EPA authority co proclaim carbon dioxide a pollutant, so they can implement something like cap-and-trade by fiat, ignoring the legislative process. So if you're going to go to court for this, aren't you up against the Supreme Court?

HORNER: What the Court said was, in a 5-4 opinion -and you and I both know how the left views 5-4 opinions - the Supreme Court "selected, not elected" carbon dioxide as a possible pollutant. It didn't tell EPA it had co. It said it could, or it could explain why not co, and ground its reasoning not to regulate it in the act. One good reason would be: there's nothing we could ever do that would ever have any detectable impact according to anybody.
But EPA is certainly legally vulnerable on what they're trying to do. They didn't make their case. In their regulatory finding, they actually admitted to outsourcing the scientific inquiry. The whistleblower Alan Carlin, who you've talked about, made quite clear that they ignored the evidence. They actually said, "We didn't do any research, but the IPCC did." Well, the IPCC's web page says they don't do any research. Yet they want to impose the biggest regulatory intervention in the history of America. So they didn't make their case. They don't have to prove their case, but they did have to provide a basis; it has to pass the reasonableness test, and they didn't do that. That problem is even worse now with the Climategate scandal. The Court said they have the option of regulating C02, but they have to do so according to laws - and the laws, I suggest, were quite flagrantly violated in rushing this thing out.

RUSH: Let's talk the politics of this. Daniel Henninger had a recent piece in The Wall Street Journal that I think mirrors a political strategy I first heard in the 1992 campaign. It goes like this: "Rush, go ahead and let Clinton win, and then people will see just how rotten liberal¬ism is and Democrats when they govern, and they'll never, ever vote for it again." Henninger said, on Obama's economic plans, the jobs creation, all this Porkulus, the TARP, everything, if it works, more power to them, and we'll become France. But if it doesn't, people will forever see how radical leftists govern. Now we're faced with cap-and-trade and the health care bill and so on. I don't know of any programs like this that ever get rolled back if they do pass. So what do you think the objective ought to be here?

HORNER: We have to stop this in the courts. We can't roll over and negotiate a settlement in Congress, because, of course, peace is not for sale, and certainty is a myth. While I'd like to salt the earth, politically, from where it came, it's going to have to be resolved in the courts. Don’t roll over. Call EPA's bluff. If they do this, we have a very good argument in court. We have several very good arguments in court. And I don't think that this will ever actually get to the point where people see it on their bills. However, I do think people will remember who tried to do this. Now, there's always a peril when someone like Obama tries to throw so much of what I'll call socialism out at once. You have a difficult time getting rallied around an outrage. You just know he's up to stuff. And I do think the people sense that this is what he's trying to do to them. Remember, BTU didn't pass, and according to AI Gore, in an interview with The Financial Times, it still cost them Congress just for the try.

RUSH: That's true. In health care, Reid and his boys are telling his rank-and-file, "If you don't pass health care, you'll lose. That's why we lost the House in '94, because we failed to pass health care." I think they're committing voluntary self-assisted suicide on the health-care side. Pelosi is saying it's even worth losing some seats to get this passed, because they know how important it is. You've said that the global warming movement is about amassing as large a government as possible to regulate every aspect of human life. I think health care has the same objective. But the global warming thing appears to be transnational. It appears to be focused on setting up a world-wide body, government, UN or whatever, that would then have as its objective fleecing the United States on a massive worldwide redistributionist scheme. Some people have advanced that theory Lord Monckton, Steve Groves over at Heritage. Is it that serious, do you think?

HORNER: Well, the people actually pushing it have advanced that theory, and I have no reason to believe they're lying. I was in the room in The Hague in November 2000 when Jacques Chirac gave his plenary speech to the Kyoto organization. He said Kyoto was the first component of an authentic global governance, and he meant it as a compli¬ment. Now, global governance is real. It is not the same as a global government. But I do think that Kyoto is one of the three legs, with the Law of the Sea Treaty, which has its own court, and the International Criminal Court, which we are going to re-sign, we are told, that sets up at a global level what the left hopes to do domestically through this issue, which is, it's not about the climate; it's the chosen artifice for organizing society as they have long desired. And the higher up they organize it, the better.

Remember, I've been around this since, what was it, '97, when there wasn't a Kyoto. And it was clear that Kyoto was about us [the U.S.]. Margot Walstrom was the European environment commis¬sioner, and she said Kyoto "is not about whether scientists agree, it is about economy, about leveling the playing field for big business¬es worldwide." That's a quote. She's saying Europe's solution isn't to free up their economy, but to try to bring us down. The thing is, they didn't see Asia coming. This was aimed at us, and the problem is, that mold has stuck. It covers 35 industrial titans like Iceland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Slovakia. But not China, India, Mexico, Brazil, South Korea, and so on. And those 155 exempt countries are actually the places where emissions are growing. If emis¬sions are your problem, this is, again, pretty backward. It's like saying, "World, you're overweight. You skinny countries look like you're in good shape. You go first." Doesn't make any sense. Rich countries' emissions have been dropping in the rate of increase dramatically and are barely rising. It's the developing world, if you're worried about emissions. But these treaties exempt them. It's all about wealth transfer. It's all about getting us under control. And we're the only ones who bought into it. The question is whether Obama will really push this. Copenhagen, you know, is projected to not pro¬duce anything that rises to the level of Senate ratification, that is, a treaty to replace the five-year plan of Kyoto.

RUSH: Right.

HORNER: However, they will emerge with tears in their eyes among the Europeans waving around a piece of paper declaring "Greenpeace in our time," and it will be, upon scrutiny, like every single one in the past 12 years, which is an historic agreement to meet again next year. Now, next year they absolutely, positively have to have this treaty. But here's the thing. Next year happens in Mexico City, on November 8, six days after our November 2 election. And Mexico will be hosting a treaty negotiation, it will be exempt from the treaty that we are to agree to, to send what's left of our manufactur¬ing base to Mexico. I think we've got an election-year issue, if the Republicans can figure this out. Because, "will you or won't you" should be asked of everybody looking to run for office. You saw all the lead-up to Copenhagen this year. Imagine next year when this treaty absolutely, positively must happen, and it's exempting our neighbor to the south, which is waiting to receive our manufacturing base. This was a misstep on their part, but there's nothing they could do about it, because no free soci¬ety is ever going to voluntarily subject itself to what this demands. So you knew it would come down to the crunch time.

RUSH: See, that's the key: no society is ever going to voluntarily or willingly accept this. But they've got to be told that's what's happening. Which brings me to the media. I have, over the past month or so, evolved, in my never-ending quest to persuade people, the statement that there are "Four Corners of Deceit" that involve now science, academia, govern¬ment, and the media. And everywhere there is a hoax, I don't care what the hoax is, be it the swine flu, the pandemic, it's going to be horrible, wher¬ever there's a hoax, you find the media. The media is compliant. The mainstream is ignoring all of this at the Hadley CRU, they're not interested. They simply accept what Carol Browner has to say about it. So as to your point that no society will willingly, voluntarily give up, but it has to know what's happening. That's where the Republican Party comes in. They have got to start speaking up. There is no better opportunity than right now, and there has been for the past year, to contrast who they are and what they believe with what's hap¬pening under the Obama leadership of the Democrat Party. It's a golden opportunity. And yet they fear if they speak up they're going to run off independents - who are actually running to them in droves, not because of anything they're doing; they're just running away from Obama.

HORNER: The same thing is true of politicians what Richard Lindzen at MIT says about scientists. When people ask, why do they jump on the bandwagon so much? Lindzen . says, "It just makes their lives easier." Now, imagine you're a politician, and you believe this issue is complicated - it really isn't; "It's the fraud, stupid" - but it makes them nervous, it's so easy to misstep, and you see how all media treat you when you dare express skepticism. There's a very well-known MIT scientist on this issue who used to be a skeptic and then went pretty nutty on the issue. Another MIT scientist I know asked him, "What happened?" The guy looked at my friend and said, "I've got a family."

RUSH: Chris, to some extent you've experienced threats, vandalism that the dissenters have been treated to by the warmists. Didn't Greenpeace include you in their "Field Guide to Climate Criminals," which was distributed in Montreal at a UN climate meet¬ing a few years ago?

HORNER: Yes, they put up a poster of me so the hippies could see who I was walking around these Kyoto talks, and they were taking my trash every Sunday night when I lived in Alexandria, Virginia. And I noticed that only mine was removed the night before. Anyway, I had some fun with them. I had two large breed dogs. It was warm. You can imagine the fun I had strictly obeying my local laws about disposing of dog waste.

Somebody told me that Greenpeace was giving things out of my trash to The Washington Post, National Journal, and Roll Call, which all three chose not to write any¬thing. But The Guardian, The Independent, El Pais, Deutsche Welle, Aftonbladet in Sweden, they all wrote these hysterical pieces about "Bush's man" - the White House didn't really care for me, by the way - "running this conspiracy out of his basement to defeat Kyoto." They were issuing press releases about who I had lunch with. They were all about intimidation, smearing people, making sure nobody wanted to be seen with you or support you. I mentioned this at a lunch one day to some scientists from around the world; I was making small talk. They all said, "Oh, that's nothing." They told me their stories of profes¬sional threats, petty harass¬ment. Tom Segalstad at the University of Oslo had the wheels fall off on his car when he spoke up, and then they fell off again with his baby girl in the car. He ran Norway's Museum of Natural History. He had some climate perspective. His mechanic said the lugs had been loosened, and the wheels on his car were falling off because he dared speak out. This came after weeks of the Greens sending pizzas to his house every night to let him know, "We know where you live." So it's at every level. It was death threats to Tim Ball, professional threats to numerous professors. I represented the skeptic scientists in Massachusetts v. EPA, the carbon dioxide case. In recruiting scientists or academics to get on the brief, we had one tell us, "You must be kidding me. I'm up for tenure." That really captures it.

RUSH: What you're doing is somewhat courageous because if you and the people on your team, on your side, succeed in this - speaking of denying, you are going to prevent or deny a whole lot of leftists from getting a whole lot of money via government grants. And at the end of the day, that's what this is all about. Do you feel at risk personally doing what you're doing?

HORNER: Well, Pat Michaels is a friend of mine, used to be the Virginia state climatologist, and he got chased out because he wouldn't comply. And he had the Greens really after him. He said something to me, "Chris, I drive a Prius because I don't think they'd ever blow one of those things up."

RUSH: Wow.

HORNER: Well, we moved behind a gate. And we protect ourselves. And I'd like to think most of them aren't nasty. So far it's been camera crews fol¬lowing me around and stealing my trash. If it gets worse, then, escalation is what it is. But I think they're mostly going to fight a civil war.

RUSH: Down here in south Florida, the daughter of one of the people who works for me was I think a junior or senior in high school when Gore's movie was out, and the school not only required the kids to watch it, they also told the parents, "If you don't show up and watch it, your kids are subject to being docked a grade point." In another instance a history teacher was giving the students the answers to the test so the scores looked good, but all she was doing was preaching anti-Bush, anti-Republican, anti-conservative, pure hatred. I asked these parents, "Why don't you do anything about this?" "I'm afraid that I'll get my kid in trouble." People feel intimidated. The left has got this massive network of intimidation in process, and of course people are going to come down on the side of protecting their kids, make sure they don't get flunked, make sure that their grade-point average is as high as it can be because education is linked to success. So it's a monumental task to take on things like this.

HORNER: Yes, but there is safety in numbers, both real and perceived. I tell people, speak to your friends, speak to your associates, speak to those people you go to church with and any of your social networking. Organize first. Because when you appear in numbers, you have a larger effect, but also, it just seems that balls get rolling, and they get rolling easier when you start out with a number. You have to air these grievances. I heard from one Canadian stu¬dent who was forced to watch Gore's movie in four different classes, and most offensively, one of them was science.

RUSH: Chris, thanks for your time. I've really appreciated this.

HORNER: Thank you, Sir, very much. My privilege.

The pope, who had a scare last week when a woman with a history of mental problems knocked him down during Christmas Eve mass, also said "ecological responsibility" should be taught as part of the education syllabus.

The pope and his predecessor John Paul have put the Vatican firmly on an environmentalist footing. Last month, in a message sent to heads of state and international organizations, the pope called on rich nations to acknowledge responsibility for the environmental crisis and shed consumerism.

What kind of flat-out buffoon is this moron? HE of all people is supposed to be a man of God is he not? And yet, he is perpetrating this global hoax, a criminal conspiracy, against the world's "rich" nations (that's YOU), in order to extort money and send it to the "poor" nations led by communist dictators.

Here's the problem:
Dec. 31 (Bloomberg) -- The Mayo Clinic, praised by President Barack Obama as a national model for efficient health care, will stop accepting Medicare patients as of tomorrow at one of its primary-care clinics in Arizona, saying the U.S. government pays too little.

More than 3,000 patients eligible for Medicare, the government’s largest health-insurance program, will be forced to pay cash if they want to continue seeing their doctors at a Mayo family clinic in Glendale, northwest of Phoenix, said Michael Yardley, a Mayo spokesman. The decision, which Yardley called a two-year pilot project, won’t affect other Mayo facilities in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota.

Obama in June cited the nonprofit Rochester, Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio for offering “the highest quality care at costs well below the national norm.” Mayo’s move to drop Medicare patients may be copied by family doctors, some of whom have stopped accepting new patients from the program, said Lori Heim, president of the American Academy of Family Physicians, in a telephone interview yesterday.

“Many physicians have said, ‘I simply cannot afford to keep taking care of Medicare patients,’” said Heim, a family doctor who practices in Laurinburg, North Carolina. “If you truly know your business costs and you are losing money, it doesn’t make sense to do more of it.”

To assess whether the airborne fraction is indeed increasing, Wolfgang Knorr of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol reanalyzed available atmospheric carbon dioxide and emissions data since 1850 and considers the uncertainties in the data.

In contradiction to some recent studies, he finds that the airborne fraction of carbon dioxide has not increased either during the past 150 years or during the most recent five decades.

The official said Obama, China's Premier Wen Jiabao, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and South Africa's President Jacob Zuma had reached a "meaningful agreement," after a day of deep divisions between leaders of rich and developing nations.

Brazil also approved the deal that appeared to bypass other participants at UN-led climate talks in Copenhagen. The accord did not have guaranteed approval from all 193nations. Noticeably, EU nations were absent from the meeting.

Tensions between China and the United States, the world's two biggest emitters, had been particularly acute after Obama -- in a message directed at the Chinese -- said any deal to cut emissions would be "empty words on a page" unless it was transparent and accountable.

Negotiators struggled all day to find a compromise acceptable to all 193 countries which could avert the threat of dangerous climate change, including floods, droughts, rising sea levels and species extinctions.

I find it peculiarly interesting that it takes a welfare payment of $100 Billion a year to go to all these "poor" African nations in order to "combat" climate change don't you??

Greenspan backs deficit-reduction commission

Allan Greenspan, the former Fed Chairman, is pledging his support for a "bi-partisan" commission to enforce deficit reduction. At first glance this may sound like a great idea; everybody "loves" bi-partisanship (except me), but what this commission would do is LEVY TAXES in order to balance the Democrats' spending habits.

Don't for a second think that these Communists and Fascists in Congress are going to stop spending OUR money! Not for a second. All this commission will do is raise OUR taxes to pay for THEIR out-of-control spending.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan on Thursday endorsed a proposed bipartisan commission to help make the tough calls needed to get the spiraling and record U.S. debt under control.

Testifying before the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Greenspan warned that the United States must quickly begin to erase red ink to avert possible disaster.

"Our nation has never before had to confront so formidable a fiscal crisis as is now visible just over the horizon," said Greenspan, who headed the central bank from 1987 to 2006.

Greenspan, a long-time deficit hawk, was seen as somewhat of an economic oracle while he headed the Fed and his word routinely moved financial markets.

Respect for Greenspan waned when the nation slipped into a recession after he left office. Many blamed him for policies that inflated the housing bubble that led to the recent financial collapse.

Yet his support could help convince Congress to give up some of its authority to a bipartisan commission which would consider tax hikes and spending cuts to keep debt at a sustainable level.

House "Narrowly" Passes New "Jobs Stimulus" Bill

WASHINGTON – Democrats in the House Wednesday muscled through a year-end plan to create jobs, mixing about $50 billion for public works projects with another almost $50 billion for cash-strapped state and local governments.

The unemployed would get continued benefits. But conspicuously absent from the plan were President Barack Obama's recently announced proposals to give Social Security recipients $250 payments, a tax credit for small businesses that create jobs and a program awarding tax credits to people who make their homes more energy efficient.

Not a single Republican voted for the plan, which passed on a 217-212 vote after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., worked the floor for an hour. The measure now goes to the Senate, which won't consider the measure until next year and which generally has a smaller appetite for such deficit-financed economic stimulus measures.

Given increasing anxiety among Democrats over massive budget deficits and the party's poor marks with voters for its free-spending ways, the measure could face a tough road. Some 38 Democrats voted against the plan, mostly moderates and junior members elected from swing districts.

According to documents released by Democrats, the measure would cost $154 billion. But there's also another $20 billion from the federal treasury to keep the highway trust fund afloat.

Continued unemployment benefits, cash for bankrupt states, and money to keep the federal highway fund afloat. Absent from the measure was King Hussein's proposal of a "tax credit" so Americans can "insulate" (caulk) their houses to save energy.

Sanders acknowledged the proposal lacked the votes to pass, and he chose to withdraw it after Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., exercised his prerogative and required Senate clerks to begin reading the 767-page proposal aloud to a nearly empty chamber. After three hours, they were 139 pages into it.

Republicans accused Democrats of trampling on Senate procedure in allowing Sanders to interrupt the reading, and Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said the incident showed the majority party "is willing to do anything to jam through a 2,000-page bill before the American people or any of us has a chance to read it."

Las Vegas Hotel & Casino Sahara Closing its towers

The Obama recession continues to sweep up more and more victims. Las Vegas, like California and Arizona, has been especially hit hard by Obamanomics. The famous Sahara Hotel & Casino is forced to shutdown two of its towers because of weak (no) demand. Shutting down also means laying workers off. More people out of work. And we are now out of the recession? A "jobless recovery" eh?

The Sahara closed two of its three hotel towers for the winter season because of low demand, but the casino and other amentities will remain open, a property spokeswoman confirmed.

“Two towers of the Sahara Hotel will remain dark based on demand through the holiday winter,” an e-mail statement said late Monday. “Upon further demand, Sahara Hotel will make more rooms available.”

Property spokeswoman Verena King could not say how many rooms were shut or how many workers might be laid off because of the closings. She added, though, that the towers could be reopened if needed because of increased customer demand.

Yeah, when will that be??

The Sahara does not release its financial information, but nearby mid- and lower-tier hotel-casinos have struggled during the recession.

The Riviera’s revenues decline 28.9 percent the first nine months of the year while its room rates dropping 20.8 percent. The Stratosphere’s revenues fell 17 percent and room rates dropped 31.3 percent, and Circus Circus saw revenues drop 21.9 percent, with room rates dropping 32.3 percent.

Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel downtown closed all of its hotel rooms Monday and cut 100 positions. The downtown casino company also blamed the decline in visitor traffic and revenues for the closing.

BRUSSELS – EU leaders agreed Friday to commit euro2.4 billion ($3.6 billion) a year until 2012 to help poorer countries combat global warming, as they sought to rescue their image as climate change innovators and bolster the talks in Copenhagen.

All 27 members of the European Union agreed to commit money to a short-term fund for poorer countries, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said after two days of difficult talks at a summit in Brussels.

Britain, France and Germany will each contribute about 20 percent of the money. But with many cash-strapped eastern EU states balking, donations by some were thought to be only a token to reach a unanimous agreement.

Critics said the EU was merely repacking aid promised earlier in different forms and sidestepping key climate change issues to produce a favorable headline.

Britain is promising the most at $650 million each year — saying this reflects its links to former members of the British Empire affected by climate change. It is also is pushing to raise that figure and the overall EU figure higher at the Copenhagen talks next week.

"(This) really does make possible an agreement where Africa and the developing countries can see that their needs are being taken seriously," British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said.

France and Germany followed with pledges of $622 million (euro420 million) each a year.

The money goes toward a global $10 billion annual fund for short-term help to poor countries, particularly in Africa, adapt to the effects of global warming before a new climate treaty being negotiated in Copenhagen comes into force in 2012.

The money would help poorer countries protect their coasts, adjust crops threatened by drought, build water supplies and irrigation systems, preserve forests and move from fossil fuel to low-carbon energy systems such as solar and wind power.

NEW YORK – The mayor railed against gun violence on Friday, one day after a street peddler died in a shootout with police outside a hotel in bustling Times Square.

Raymond Martinez, 25, was killed by a plainclothes sergeant Thursday after trading gunfire in an area crowded with tourists and holiday shoppers.

Martinez turned and fired a machine pistol that held 30 rounds, getting off two shots before it jammed, police said. The officer fired four times, striking Martinez in the chest and arms.

"We're lucky the weapon jammed," said police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

He said the shooting preliminarily appeared to be within department guidelines, which allow for deadly force when an officer's life is threatened.

Martinez's brother, Oliver, returned to the family's Bronx home Thursday evening after hours in custody. Another brother, Anthony, cried out that he hates police: "They shot my brother!" he said, hugging Oliver.

Police say it's not uncommon to arrest hawkers on more serious charges. Police Capt. Edward Winski said there have been more than 400 peddler arrests this year and illegal activity has been increasing.

Police said the Martinez brothers were cited previously for not having their stamps. They were also suspected of running a scam: asking someone's name, writing it on a CD and then demanding payment of $10.

But their cousin, Nailean Arzu, said the slain man had been lawfully selling CDs for years.

"Everybody loved him," she said. "It's a great loss to the family."

Humans are the only rational animals but have yet to prove it. Medical and other scientific advances have benefited by delivering lower infant mortality rates as well as longevity. Both are welcome, but humankind has not yet recalibrated its behavior to account for the fact that the world can only accommodate so many people, especially if billions get indoor plumbing and cars.

Unsustainable population?? It's as if nobody ever dies...people are only born and the population just keeps growing, and growing, and growing. Thank God for diseases and cancers huh??

"We are taking additional steps to enhance servicer transparency and accountability," Reilly said. She said the goal was to increase the rate that troubled home loans were converted into new loans with lower monthly payments.

Rising Unemployment Taxes Will Prevent Any Recovery Whatsoever

Rising unemployment taxes that businesses must pay to the states will kill any attempts at a recovery and likely mean even MORE layoffs to come next year.

WASHINGTON – As if small businesses needed another reason not to hire, consider their latest financial burden: The cost of rising unemployment itself.

Employers already are squeezed by tight credit, rising health care costs, wary consumers and a higher minimum wage. Now, the surging jobless rate is imposing another cost. It's forcing higher state taxes on companies to pay for unemployment insurance claims.

Some employers say the extra costs make them less likely to hire. That could be a worrisome sign for the economic recovery, because small businesses create about 60 percent of new jobs. Other employers say they'll cut or freeze pay.

Bruce Meyer, a University of Chicago economics professor, said his studies show that higher unemployment taxes usually lead to lower pay for employees.

Behind the trend are widespread layoffs. The number of people claiming jobless aid has tripled since the recession began. The demand has drained the funds that many states use to pay jobless claims. Nearly half the states are borrowing from the federal government.

Now the bills are coming due. States reset their unemployment insurance taxes at the end of each year, and 33 states will raise them next year, according to the National Association of State Workforce Agencies. The states' tax revenue in the last fiscal year fell $42 billion short of what's needed for unemployment aid.

Most of the tax increases are being triggered by laws requiring higher taxes to make up for a decline in state funds to pay for benefits. In some cases, cuts in jobless aid are required, too.

LONDON – Computer hackers have broken into a server at a well-respected climate change research center in Britain and posted hundreds of private e-mails and documents online — stoking debate over whether some scientists have overstated the case for man-made climate change.

The University of East Anglia, in eastern England, said in a statement Saturday that the hackers had entered the server and stolen data at its Climatic Research Unit, a leading global research center on climate change. The university said police are investigating the theft of the information, but could not confirm if all the materials posted online are genuine.

More than a decade of correspondence between leading British and U.S. scientists is included in about 1,000 e-mails and 3,000 documents posted on Web sites following the security breach last week.

Some climate change skeptics and bloggers claim the information shows scientists have overstated the case for global warming, and allege the documents contain proof that some researchers have attempted to manipulate data.

US Post Office Needs a Bailout

With dwindling mail volume, higher fees for services (like stamps), and the skyrocketing cost of "overhead" at the United States Post Office, the USPS finds itself in dire straits.

It's been an ugly few years for the United States Postal Service.

The quasi-government agency announced this week that it lost $3.8 billion in the most recent fiscal year, which ended September 30th. It also delivered less mail - 26 billion fewer pieces less, a nearly 13 percent drop from the previous year. The bad news follows losses totaling $7.8 billion in 2007 and 2008.

Rapidly losing business while raising fees in the process is NOT a good, sustainable business model for ANY business. It is a model for bankruptcy. (ask GM & Chrysler)

Federal law dictates that the Postal Service can borrow up to $3 billion per year - but the debt cannot grow beyond $15 billion. That means that while the agency, which had revenues of $68.1 billion last year, could potentially borrow another $3 billion in 2010, it will soon no longer be able to legally borrow billions from the government.

Meanwhile, the Postal Service is estimating that without significant changes, it will lose another $7.8 billion in the coming year - and deliver another 11 billion fewer pieces of mail.

Which raises the question: Could the Postal Service be doomed?

Yes, it's doomed. But, we have Democrats in complete control of the country's vault of taxpayer money to bail them out.

Here's what they want to do:

The agency cut $6 billion in expenses over the past year, eliminating 40,000 of its roughly 750,000 jobs and slashing overtime hours. But it says that isn't enough. And it's pushing for two major changes that it suggests could help get it back into the black in 2010.

The first is freedom from a government-mandated requirement that the agency pay more than $5 billion per year into a fund to cover its retired employees' future health benefits over a ten-year period. The government allowed the agency to forgo $4 billion of that obligation this past year, but the requirement remains on the books.

The second goal, critics say, is a fundamental threat to the identity of the Postal Service: The end of Saturday mail delivery. The Postal Service has suggested cutting Saturday service could save 3.5 billion per year, though the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC), which regulates the Postal Service, puts that figure at $2 billion.

That's the straw folks - retiree benefits, just as it is with EVERY business that has a union. Unions only do one thing very well - they bankrupt their employers.

The bailout...

Illinois Democratic Rep. Danny Davis, a member of the Congressional subcommittee that oversees the Postal Service (and, until recently, its chairman), told CBSNews.com in an interview that the agency "is between a rock and a hard place."

"It's just not generating the money that you need in order to keep operating," he said.

Davis said he was open to cutting Saturday service - perhaps on a rolling basis, so that certain communities would lack Saturday delivery once or twice a month - as well as loosening the health benefit requirements. He also backed a government bailout for the embattled agency if that's what it takes to keep it afloat.

"We've bailed out a lot of things, and I think the Postal Service is probably as important in one sense as some of the other places where we have put public money," he said.

Chrysler's Electric Vehicle Development Canned by new Fiat Chief

This is such poetic justice. The Supreme Communist leader's plans to force all Americans to drive toasters is going up in flames. The new head of Chrysler, Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, has scaled back it's plans to produce electric vehicles - even though Chrysler has accepted $70 million in seed money from "we" taxpayers. (I wonder if that will be refunded back to the U.S. taxpayers?)

If you believed all the talk from Chrysler about how our tax dollars would help finance its fast-track electric-vehicle
future, you're in for a big disappointment.

Chrysler has disbanded the engineering team that was trying to bring three electric models to market as a rush job, Automotive News reports today. Chrysler cited its devotion to electric vehicles as one of the key reasons why the Obama administration and Congress needed to give it $12.5 billion in bailout money, the News points out.

The change of heart on electric vehicles has come under Fiat. At a marathon presentation of Chrysler's five-year strategy, CEO Sergio Marchionne talked about just about everything on Chrysler's plate last week except its earlier electric-car plans. With the group's disbanding, Chrysler's electric plans will be melded into Fiats. Marchionne is apparently no fan of electric power:
He says electrics will only make up 1% or 2% of Fiat sales by 2014 and that he doesn't put a lot of faith in the technology until battery developments are pushed forward.

As a result, Chrysler won't have an electric car on sale as soon as next year, such as the Dodge Circuit sports car concept it had unveiled. The change has come so fast that Chrysler's web site has been still featuring pictures of the electric vehicles. Adds the News:

The article says in the title and in the very first few words of the article...

Record # of Residents Flee New York's High Taxes

Well, I would have never thought of this: high taxes are forcing people to move out of New York! Gee, imagine that? I guess Gov. Patterson would call all these people "un-American" for skipping town and not paying "their fair share."

New Yorkers are fleeing the state and city in alarming numbers -- and costing a fortune in lost tax dollars, a new study shows.

More than 1.5 million state residents left for other parts of the United States from 2000 to 2008, according to the report from the Empire Center for New York State Policy. It was the biggest out-of-state migration in the country.

The vast majority of the migrants, 1.1 million, were former residents of New York City -- meaning one out of seven city taxpayers moved out.

"The Empire State is being drained of an invaluable resource -- people," the report said.

Question for the Democrats:
Why? Why are people fleeing their benevolent dictatorship?

What's worse is that the families fleeing New York are being replaced by lower-income newcomers, who consequently pay less in taxes.

Overall, the ex-New Yorkers earn about 13 percent more than those who moved into the state, the study found.

That's the crux: the rich move out, the poor move in. And "how" do the Democrats plan to make up for all that lost "revenue?" Simple: raise taxes on whoever is left!! Soda taxes, sales taxes, cigarette taxes, toll road taxes, whatever. They are going to nickel and dime whoever is left over. It's a well-oiled, criminal enterprise. The Democrats will do everything they can to keep people poor and dependent on government assistance.

All the Democrats care about is POWER. They are not interested in creating the environment for free enterprise and prosperity. The policy was so well regarded that even Democrats, the party of the income tax, argued for lower taxes.

Sound familiar?] Hoover openly flattered Lewis: "Mr. Lewis is more than a successful battle leader. He has a sound conception of statesmanship." But by the mid-1920s it became clear that they had been wrong: nonunion mines were driving the companies that had gone along with the Jacksonville agreement out of business. The union men were not better paid; they were out of work. [again, sounds all too familiar]

Union wages do one thing: they bankrupt the company. OUT OF BUSINESS is not a successful business model people. Being out of work does not HELP the union worker!! This is a lesson that the Democrats refuse to accept. Why?, because it's easier to bribe workers for their votes than create a true environment for job growth.

Here's an excerpt from the book...
In this period, the first half of the 1920s, both Mellon and Hoover published books codifying their philosophies. The austere Mellon gave his an unexpectedly populist title: "Taxation: The People's Business." In it he laid out the theories of his fellow Scot Adam Smith to justify his program of continued tax-cutting. Reaching to find an image from the day--it may have been hard--he talked about Henry Ford's company. "Does anyone question that Mr. Ford has made more money by reducing the price of his car and increasing his sales than he would have made by maintaining a high price and a greater profit per car, but selling less cars? The government is just a business." [that's the understatement of the century-my commentary added]

The lesson of the book was simple: people responded to tax rates, and lower rates might promote growth in the 1920s and pull in higher revenues for government. The whole idea of overtaxation was to Mellon un-American. "Any man of energy and initiative in this country can get what he wants out of life. But when initiative is crippled by legislation [or endless regulation-my commentary] or by a tax system which denies him the right to receive a reasonable share of his earnings, then he will no longer exert himself and the country will be deprived of the energy on which its continued greatness depends."

THAT my friends is the crux of the impoverished situation we now live in--the endless legislation, regulation, and punitive taxes that shackle our existence. The never-ending Welfare State that ensalves entire communities and generations of people. Perpetual poverty is the government's great weapon that saps the will to work and promotes "equality." This is a crime and is largely the reponsibility of the Democratic Party (or the Socialist Party or Communist Party...take your pick).

Now here is an excerpt which immediately follows Mellon's example from the book; this is by Hoover...
"Hoover gave his book a title similar to Mellon's: "American Individualism." But the text, like Hoover's work, was distinct. Hoover rejected the old brand of absolute individualism and disdained laissez-faire economics as "theoretic and emotional." [huh? laissez-faire economics is "emotional??" On which planet? - my commentary] Private property, he also said, was "not a fetich" for Americans (using the spelling acceptable in that period). A few weeks ago, a story broke about a high school in Chicago that had a frightening teen pregnancy rate: 115 girls out of 800. The school is Robeson High, your typical inner city poor school. Here's a link to the original story from CBS News Channel 2 in Chicago as reported by Kristyn Hartman.

It is a Chicago public school full of energy and spirit. It has about 800 girls, and 115 of them have something in common – something you might find disturbing.

All those young ladies are moms or moms-to-be at Paul Robeson High School. It's not a school for young mothers, it's a neighborhood school. And all of the pregnancies have happened, despite prevention talk.

"Despite prevention talk?" ie, abstinence. The Just Say No program is apparently not acceptable. Now, this report does not make that leftist claim, BUT CNN does. That video follows.

"It can be a lot of things that are happening in the home or not happening in the home, if you will," Morrow said. Absentee fathers are another factor, he said.

LaDonna Denson and two other Robeson students say parents not talking to teens and, in some cases, the pursuit of public assistance also factor into the pregnancies. None of them thought they'd be moms at such a young age.

They said they have support at home. But not all girls do, they said. In fact, some girls get thrown out of the home.

Not on Morrow's turf. "We're not looking at them like 'Ooh you made a mistake,'" he said. "We're looking at how we can get them to the next phase, how can we still get them thinking about graduation?"

Adviser David Axelrod cited progress on reviving the economy, with expectations for growth in the third quarter this year. But he warned that the government should not make the mistake of ending its recovery initiatives too early at the risk of sending the economy back into recession.

"That doesn't mean that we don't look to the mid- and long-term for deficit reduction," Axelrod said. "We have a stimulus program in place, an economic recovery program in place, that is not even 50 percent through. We have to see that through. And we'll see what other measures we need to take."

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- White House communications director Anita Dunn fired back at criticism from TV commentator Glenn Beck on Friday, saying that a Mao Tse-tung quote Beck took issue with was picked up from legendary GOP strategist Lee Atwater.

As for Beck's criticism: "The use of the phrase 'favorite political philosophers' was intended as irony, but clearly the effort fell flat -- at least with a certain Fox commentator whose sense of irony may be missing."

Fell flat? No, typically when you're serious people don't see the "irony."

Dunn, taped in a speech in what appears to be a church, said the leader's philosophies were a guidepost for her own strategy on politics. She also praised the philosophy used by religious icon Mother Teresa.

"The third lesson and tip actually comes from two of my favorite political philosophers: Mao Tse-tung and Mother Theresa -- not often coupled with each other, but the two people I turn to most to basically deliver a simple point which is 'you're going to make choices; you're going to challenge; you're going to say why not; you're going to figure out how to do things that have never been done before."

The Democrats in Congress, led by their supreme dictator Barack Hussein Obama, are SO concerned & compassionate about the health care the American people receive that they are exempting themselves from the very plan that they will impose upon ALL of the American people.

Congress will keep their "Cadillac" health care plans with 24/7 on-call doctors and posh hospital rooms and "cheap" plans (paid for by "we" taxpayers) because they've defeated every attempted amendment to force Congress to accept the same disastrous health care plan they intend to force on everyone else.

“One thing is certain: Congress will exempt itself from whatever lousy health care system it forces on us little people,” said Michael Cannon, director of health policy studies at the Cato Institute. “Congress will get better insurance than you do because politicians always get a better deal under government-run health care.”

Members of Congress can choose from five different plans, and have access to both the VIP Bethesda Naval Hospital and a reserved spot Ward 72 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, an elite division usually reserved for military members. Their everyday medical concerns can be taken care of at a doctors office located inside of Congress.

Their premiums are the same as those of insurance plans with half the benefits, and the plans last a lifetime; not until Medicare kicks in do ex-Members or loose their Congressional health benefits. Congress has repeatedly voted down any provision that would switch their insurance plans to the lower-grade public option if Obamacare goes through.

Hmm? Why aren't the American people good enough for Congress' health care plans?? Why must the people be enslaved into death panels and rationing, while the leaders on Capital Hill exempt themselves from their own misery and tyranny? Oh well, I'm sure they really do care; it's all well intended.

Helen Evans, the director of Nurses for Reform, a campaign for more consumer-led, sustainable healthcare systems in Britain, said that this sort of elite care for the bureaucracy – and low-brow care for the plebes – is the same thing that happens in the government-run British health care system.

Commissioner Roger Goodell cast doubt on Rush Limbaugh's viability as an N.F.L. owner Tuesday, saying that "divisive comments are not what the N.F.L. is all about."

"I've said many times before, we're all held to a high standard here," Goodell said. Then he continued: "I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL -- absolutely not."

Goodell emphasized that the Rosenbloom family, which owns the St. Louis Rams, is not even fully committed to sell its majority stake in the team and that they were extremely early in the process. Limbaugh has teamed with the former Madison Square Garden executive Dave Checketts in a bid for the Rams. But Goodell's comments were a thinly veiled signal that Limbaugh's bid -- even if it were the highest -- would most likely not receive support from owners, who must approve any change in ownership.

Retired and current players have voiced concern about Limbaugh's interest in the Rams, with some saying players would not play for him. One of Limbaugh's most controversial quotes was his suggestion that Donovan McNabb got credit for the Eagles' successes because the news media wanted him to succeed because he is a black quarterback.

"The comments Rush made specifically about Donovan, I disagree with very strongly," Goodell said. "It's a polarizing comment that we don't think reflect accurately on the N.F.L. or our players. I obviously do not believe those comments are positive and they are divisive. That's a negative thing for us, obviously."
